Informed Youth as the Foundation of a Strong Democracy: Launch of 3-Day Training of Trainers
On May 20, 2026, the 3-day Training of Trainers (ToT) was launched within the framework of the project “My Voice Matters: Inclusive Democratic Participation of Youth in Armenia” implemented by Dignity Humanitarian NGO with the financial support of the New Democracy Fund.
The training brings together young people and activists from different regions of Armenia who will later conduct informational and educational meetings for youth in their own communities.
The aim of the initiative is to strengthen participants’ knowledge and capacities ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia, focusing on democratic and civic participation, media literacy and countering misinformation. The program also seeks to prepare trainers who will transfer the knowledge and skills gained during the course to regional youth, promoting informed, responsible, and inclusive participation in democratic processes.
The first day of the training was dedicated to Media Literacy.
Expert Samvel Martirosyan presented the key characteristics of the modern information environment, mechanisms of information dissemination on social media and tools for identifying fake news and manipulative content. Through practical exercises, participants also developed their skills in information verification and analysis.
During the following days, participants will explore the topics of Countering Misinformation and Democratic and Civic Participation. They will examine the impact of misinformation on democratic processes and public opinion, discuss the importance of critical thinking and responsible information behavior, and reflect on the significance of participation in democratic processes and elections, as well as opportunities to create change through community and civic initiatives.
Throughout the training, participants have the opportunity not only to gain new knowledge, but also to strengthen practical skills in teamwork, communication, and facilitation.
Dignity Humanitarian NGO continues its work aimed at empowering young people, promoting inclusive democratic values and encouraging active civic participation in Armenia, particularly in the context of the country’s upcoming parliamentary elections.
