From Myths to Facts: HIV Prevention Discussed at Vanadzor Drop-In Center
An informational and interactive training session on HIV prevention was held at the Vanadzor Drop-In Center of Dignity Humanitarian NGO.
The aim of the session was to provide participants with reliable, evidence-based information, increase awareness about HIV, and support informed decision-making for protecting their health.
During the training, participants discussed the routes of HIV transmission and effective prevention methods, including the correct selection and use of condoms and lubricants. The session also covered pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), including the event-driven "2+1+1" dosing regimen for eligible individuals.
Participants also received information about post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). It was emphasized that anyone who may have been exposed to HIV should seek professional medical assistance as soon as possible, and no later than 72 hours after the potential exposure.
The session was held in an open and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging participants to ask questions, share their experiences, and receive clear, professional answers from the facilitator.
Participants were also informed that in Armenia, PrEP and PEP services are available free of charge, along with hepatitis B vaccination and hepatitis C treatment provided through the state healthcare program.
Such educational sessions help dispel common myths about HIV, increase awareness of available prevention options, and encourage more responsible approaches to personal health.
